The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Estonia, Mr. Murad Najafbayli, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Estonia, Mr. Toomas Hendrik Ilves, on Janruary 28, 2016.
The ceremony was held at the presidential palace in Kadriorg.
The Ambassador conveyed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s greetings and best wishes to the Estonian President at the meeting after the official ceremony. The Ambassador noted the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Estonia and future oriented efforts to develop and strengthen the cooperation between the countries.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani-Estonian relations, on bilateral and multilateral levels, including within the framework of international organizations, and views on the current state and development prospects were discussed.
The Ambassador informed the Estonian President about the socio-political and socio-economic situation and the achievements of the country under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Ambassador Mr. M. Najafbayli informed the President about the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, the continuation of the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, the occupation of 20% of Azerbaijan’s territory and Armenia’s imitation of the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Estonian President expressed his satisfaction with the level of cooperation with Azerbaijan, noted that Azerbaijan is a friendly country for Estonia and expressed confidence that the dynamic partnership between the two countries in all areas will continue to develope in the future.
The Estonian Head of State wished success to the Ambassador, expressed gratitude for the greetings and asked to convey his greetings and best wishes to the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The Ambassador expressed Azerbaijan’s interest in further development and strenghtening of the relations with Estonia in all fields.
Ambassador M. Najafbayli also presented a copy of his credentials to the Head of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 26, 2016.
